Sexual and other inappropriate acts are being committed at the beach walls of Malé, and it has now become a serious problem, say the police.

In the last four months fourteen men and women have been summoned on various charges, according to Assistant Commissioner Captain Ibrahim Latheef.

'Shocking acts were seen being committed,' says Latheef. 'Even school children have been involved.'

Offences have taken place at the south and east sea wall areas, and other public places.

'We urge the people involved to stop doing this. If these acts continue we are reminding them that we'll take appropriate action,' says a public notice issued by the police last Thursday.
