While the Eagle Waits by Ahmed Naseer March 2003 ![]() The new world gave water and game For the creation of a mighty Eagle Shaded watchful eyes below the mane Hovering above the Crow and playful Seagull She sweeps over dark clouds gathering steam Unleashed by a backlash Of oppression and unfulfilled dreams Dripping death and obliteration Do we know the reasons? That shaped history And transformed thoughts into chapters Distilled in pain and misery The sound of her flight Break the patterns of sleep Shaking the earth and extinguishing all light From the shallow and deep We wait for an answer That can dispel our fears Do we welcome those mighty wings with a cheer? Or with bloodshed and dry dusty tears. |
